So I posted this self portrait yesterday. Why did I take this photograph? Two reasons…. I am a photographer who didn’t have any photographs that I loved of myself and secondly I needed an updated one for my business. Having a professional portrait for my business or for any business is crucial because I am the face of my business.
For the past several months now, I have been shooting a new genre of women 40+ and I have really fallen in love with it because the reaction of these women when they see how beautiful they truly are in these photographs makes me feel beyond wonderful that I am doing something truly meaningful and valuable.
Everyone, woman and man, should exist in images because we all deserve it. Your family will also love that they have gorgeous photographs of you to have forever and pass down for generations to come. And these images must be printed not sitting on a hard drive waiting to fail.
I am 48 years old and I actually love this photograph which is hard for me to admit but 2018 is about finding time for me again, being kind to myself and learning to be proud of who I have become. I’ve always been extremely hard on myself and it’s time to stop. Not only for me but to set a better example for my children. Negative feelings and words do tremendous damage to oneself’s confidence. These images are a step in the right direction.
Existing in photographs is so important to your personal legacy. It will be of value to you and your family and will become PRICELESS when the photograph becomes a memory.
So I ask this if you are still reading this long post… When was the last time you were photographed? Do you have images that you love of yourself? If you answered no, let me change that for you. You won’t regret it.
Next on my personal project list is photographing my mom and siblings to create the Sullivan Family legacy.
I am so grateful to do what I love.
